Proto-1 Manufacturing is very proud to announce that we are now an ISO 9001:2015 certified company!
ISO 9001 is a globally recognized quality management standard that is embedded within the organization. These new processes will lead to consistent outcomes, better internal management, better organization, and increased productivity. Having these processes in place will streamline employee training, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.
ISO 9001:2015 will help us in our goal of continuous improvement for our customers as well. These continuous improvement areas will include quality of products and service, improved reporting, and more reliable production scheduling and delivery.
Quality Control: CPK’s
Proto-1 CpK Capability
Our quality control lab at Proto-1 can conduct Cpk testing for your tube end forming project. By using a Cpk, Proto-1 is able to show how consistent your tube end forming project will be. This process not only shows consistency but allows us to make any adjustments should the project not be meeting the specified Cpk value. We are able to meet any customer CpK expectation.
Importance of a CpK Study
The process capability index (Cpk) is a statistical tool used to measure the ability of a process to produce product within the customer’s specification limits. A Cpk is used to estimate how close a process is to a given target and how consistent it is. Cpk’s have different values that correlate to different process yields. For instance if a machine or process has a Cpk value of 1.33 or higher, that machine or process has a process yield of 99.99% or better. This indicates that the machine or process meets the specified limits. Not every machine needs to meet a 1.33 or higher Cpk. Cpk values are driven by our customers, as they set the tolerances for their project. A CpK study is important to help ensure our customers expectations are met.
Community Involvement
This year Proto-1 will again be partnering with the Children’s Cancer Family Foundation. We will be designing and manufacturing the Big Heart Award for this years Gold Ribbon Gala that takes place on May 10th. To learn more about this organization please visit their website. www.ccffnew.org
Local High School Visit
This past month our quality control team educated local high students on Proto-1’s quality capabilities. Our company uses these opportunities to educate the future workforce on the skilled trades. Within the month of May we will also be hosting 5th grade students to tour them through Proto-1 to educate them on manufacturing. Proto-1 takes advantage of these opportunities to help build a strong skill trades workforce for the future.
